These are our last flights for a few weeks
while the mechanics do a 100 hour inspection.
Today we saw a tearful
and joyful sister run to the CAM plane to hug her much-younger
brother who was able to exit under his own steam; then watched
as an ambulance crew left with our stroke patient on the same
flight. She was en-route to a rehab facility near where her
family has found a place to live. Her daughters who were present
in Griffin for her being loaded onto the plane were making their
way back to LA by car.
Then, we jumped over to
Lafayette and picked up a lady who couldn't speak and was pretty
apprehensive about the whole thing, but she responded as well as
she was able when her niece and grand-niece greeted her at
Fulton Co. airport. She was placed in a nursing home in
Alpharetta. Her sister, also evacuated from New Orleans, is
living with the niece (her daughter) there. These two elderly
ladies have never lived apart. The spinster sister (our patient)
simply was not able to make the "able-bodied" evacuation flight
and had been left in Crowley, LA back in August.
A lovely day all-in-all;
and I am grateful for having the pleasure of witnessing what the
Lord has done.
Please note that we are
having these patients Certified as New Orleans evacuee's by the Doctor
who is transporting them.
Minimum charge for this
service is $2.50 per mile for air transportation. |
